- Catch Story: I was fishing in walts house, when the pike hit. it spooled my little ice rod twice until it tired but the fish was hooked way back on its jaw but no line was in danger of being cut (perfect hooking) but when the fish was up ready to be landed the front mouth of the fish was too far past the hole and I could not get the head in the hole to come up. I stated I wish I had a gaff. and all of a sudden he ran out the door and a few minutes later he came back with one.....in time for me to hook her and get her throught the hole. after it was all done I sat down and started to shake. I have caught many pike over 40 inches but never through the ice!!!
