- Catch Story: Myself and three friends were anchored near the mouth of Rainy River. We weren't paying too much attention to our rods, but I happened to look over and my rod tip was nearly in the lake. I picked it up and fought the fish for nearly forty minutes. No one in the boat had caught a sturgeon before, so we did not know what to expect when it finally came to the surface through the muddy water. One friend who had our walleye net, threw it on the floor of the boat once we finally saw it. He got down and grabbed the tail and another went down and wrapped it in a bear hug to lift it over the side of the boat. We didn't know what to expect when we got on the water that morning, but we were surely given a treat.
